Dear Experts,

While evaluating a native app on a Samsung S21 with Talkback Screen reader
, I observed Talkback announcing a comma (",") at the end of each heading,
, and the same happening with – Labels of Interactive controls such as
Button, Edit field etc .

For example: Heading : About us,

Button Label: Submits,

Please note - These commas are not visually present on the screen.

And also , in Test mobile - Punctuation/symbol announcement is enabled in
verbosity > Talkback settings.

Is this announcement of commas which are not visually available, is a
violation of WCAG 2.2 guidelines? , if so, which SC could be mapped ? or
such issues not covered by WCAG ?

Please share your insights in this regards.

Hi Ajeesh,

This is the expected behaviour actually. Intentionally implemented by
Google to provide a logical break between the announcements. You won't be
hearing these commas, only seeing them in captions, the screen reader gives
a logical pause with them and it inturn helps in a
better understandability for the users.

Thanks,
Vaibhav
