Has anyone seen some good examples of how a website has used Flash and made
it 508-compliant?
I understand that as long as you have a good enough ALT tag, and/or HTML
transcript of any information conveyed, this is sufficient.
Is this correct, or should Flash be discouraged?
Any feedback appreciated!

Alt tags or transcripts of Flash files can sometimes be sufficient, but only
for non-interactive files. How, for example, would you make an effective alt
tag or transcript for an interactive Flash chemistry experiment? I suppose
that you could provide a lengthy list of if/then statements. That would
convey the content, but you can see that the more interactive the content,
the more difficult it is to make an alternative for Flash content. I'm not
saying that it can't be done, only that it is more difficult.
If Flash content is linear, then a transcript will probably be sufficient.
If the Flash content is simply "flashy", with no real content, then an alt
tag may be sufficient.
