I know you're not supposed to pop up extra windows, but say you had too...
what can you do to make them accessible?

Prompt the user with an alert box saying a new window is opening. They
need to cancel this box before the new window actually opens. You can
also put in the link text that this link will open X number of windows.
This at least gives the user some information about what to expect. In
the prompting solution you could also add controls to allow the user to
cancel the opening of a box. But it is harder to do this cross palteform.
