Hi everyone, sorry about not getting this out sooner.
There are still student slots available in the IWA/HWG eClasses
course D201, Accessible Web Design, taught by Kynn and Liz Bartlett.
The next course starts on Monday, 4 August 2003. You can enroll
in the course until Monday, 11 August 2003.
This is a seven-week introduction to the concepts and technologies
behind accessible Web development, with special focus on the Web
Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 as well as a review of the
Section 508 requirements for U.S. federal Web site accessibility.
The course is only $80 for paid members of the International
Webmasters Association/HTML Writers Guild; membership is $49 per
year. (Non-member tuition for this class is $180. Become a
member before enrolling, and save over $50!)
This is the 22nd session of the D201 course, which has been taught
online to thousands of Web developers since 1998. Updated course
materials are posted on a weekly basis via a Web interface, so the
class is convenient to fit your schedule, no matter where you're
located around the globe.
There are two textbooks for this class; "Constructing Accessible
Web Sites" by a bunch of smart people, and "Web Accessibility" by
the equally smart Mike Paciello. Due to availability problems
with "Constructing," its use is optional for this session of the
course; the Paciello book is available online through the IWA/HWG
eClasses virtual library free of charge to all enrolled students.

As far as I know there should be no availabiltiy problems with the book
at this point, if you here of them, PLEASE let me know!!!!

The Amazon link from the ICDRI site says:

"Availability: This title usually ships within 3 to 5 weeks. Please
note that special order titles occasionally go out of print, or
publishers run out of stock. These hard-to-find titles are not
discounted and are subject to an additional charge of $1.99 per book
due to the extra cost of ordering them. We will notify you within 2-3
weeks if we have trouble obtaining this title"
Until Amazon has it in "normal stock," I can't really recommend it to
my students without them freaking out and asking me questions about
why it will take 3-5 weeks plus additional charge to get the book.
If the book is available, then perhaps you have better information
than what Amazon thinks -- but even still, with this Amazon notice,
I will still get a number of questions.
It is entirely my desire to move to the Glasshaus book for the
class -- and I would have for last class and this one too if not for
the Glasshaus implosion -- but until Amazon thinks it's available
reliably, I can't in good conscience require this for my students.

so that anyone who has questions about the textbook policy
for the D201 class can be aware of why I've made the decision
I've made. For each week in class, I post two reading
assignments: One from the Glasshaus book, and one from the
Paciello book.
