I've found that the captions can't be on the streaming server - if you are
streaming the video, try putting the captions on http.

You can have everything on an http server, but use full urls for both the
video and the caption files.

I'm seeing text on WMP 8 on Windows XP machine and on WMP 7.1 on OSX.

This would be a lot easier to test with a file that wasn't so huge. 242Mbps
for a video that is several minutes in length is a lot to expect end-users
to download...

Thanks Andrew! I agree it's a very large file to download - the video
is part of an interactive CD. That's strange that it works on a WMP 8
player. I've been testing with WMP 9 and have had no luck. Are there
any known workarounds to get it to play on all the players?

What is the recommended solution? I've talked to a few folks and they
recommended using Flash instead. Is that a better solution to ensure
accessibility for the majority?

Andrew thanks again for the information.

Thanks!

Just a quick follow up. It turned out that I had a stray character in
my smi file. Probably got put in there by Dreamweaver. After reading
the magpie tips on the webaim site I opened the smi file on a linux box
and was able to see it.

Thanks for the help.
