Subject: Recommendations for marking up transcripts

At the college where I work, we're reviewing how to markup transcripts
of videos. In the past, we've used definition lists with <blockquote>
and <cite> elements, probably not the best choice.

What recommendations do you have for marking up transcripts? A review
of several sites show transcripts using <p> with <strong> to indicate
the speaker. Other sites simply have a Word document or plain text
file posted of the transcript. I've seen sites with PDFs for the
transcript as well.

Additional markup choices I've found include:

* headings <h3> or <h4> for the speaker and <p> for the dialog
* definition lists <dt> for speaker, <dd> for dialog (with no
additional elements used)

Any recommendations on what has worked for your organization? Or what
hasn't worked well?
