How do you look at Gmail without style?

I tried in Mozilla by going to "view> page style>
no style" and it is unreadable. It is surprising
to see such a prominant web site that doesn't meet
508.

Der, it's called "basic html" view. I just looked at the bottom of the
page.

There should be a HTML option on the main page.

When I used the web gmail, I selected the non-standard view. I don't
remember what it's called, as I just looked at it and it just has a
link saying "standard view". I really wish I remembered, but when I
changed it, it worked just fine.

Thanks, these things are hard to find when you
can't see them.

Wayne, did you find it? I think it's at the top of the page, and I
know there is one at the bottom of the page. Basic html has worked
with my reader for gmail, though I found it a lot easier to use it
through my mail program.

Thank you. I found it. My search term was wrong.
Thanks.

I really couldn't believe that Google would make
that kind of mistake.

Oh good. Yeah, Google has been one of the most accessible sites for
me, with everything they have, including iGoogle and blogger.

Mike replies,

Standards or best practices need to be developed for the placement of accessibility controls. One of my favorites was a control for screen magnification users that would display the forms fields in a single column right justified down the side of the page. The control was in the upper left hand column. The really interesting part was that nobody mentioned it during user testing with screen magnification users. The problem was identified closer to release.
