Hello, my company wants to add a Google Translate widget to all of its pages. Does it have adverse effects for accessibility? Here is an example of what I am talking about:

The widget itself is no big deal but I am concerned about the redrawn (translated) page. Any thoughts? Regards,
Michelangelo

Well, it would requiring testing for something like that. The major thing I
could see getting in the way is the way that JAWS can sometimes have
problems because it pulls its content by 2 means in IE, that being MSAA and
screen scraping the DOM. Whether or not this is a problem for your
implementation is something that you can test for - I wouldn't know off
hand, but most of the work that Google does is through XML/XSLT transforms,
and I've seen plenty of cases where JAWS gets a little upset about that.

My suggestion - just give it a try. If you have some dynamic content that
is already loading up on the page, you might have more problems - but
there's only one way to know for certain.

Good luck,

Ryan
