hello members,
someone who is working on an accessibility project using tactile
images for the deaf-blind has a problem, which i think this more
knowledgeable forum members can provide an answer. his query:

"One of the participants, Rolf, is completely blind (since birth), the
rest have some sort of sight.
Everyone but Rolf have now learnt how to use the blogging tool in WordPress.
Rolf is using a PC with Explorer and JAWS screen reading software.
Through the link menu in JAWS Rolf is able to maneuver within
WordPress and use all buttons and links, except one: the PUBLISH
button. That button is nowhere to be found within JAWS. I.e. Rolf can
write a blog post but he can't publish it..."

hope someone in this list can assist.

thank you

cheers

Hi,
I'm somewhat familiar with WordPress, since we use this at SSB. I'm not sure
if there are version differences though.

Does he see it if he presses Insert+F5 to open the Form Field list instead?
It should be a button towards the top of the list.

Also, I believe the button has an accesskey of 'p', so if he is using IE he
could press Alt+P or Shift+Alt+P in Firefox.

Hopefully this helps a bit.

Best wishes,
Bryan

The button is there and can be accessed with Jaws in a couple of different
ways. I tend to use the h shortcut key twice from the top of the page to
reach the "Publish" heading, then the b shortcut key twice to reach the
"Publish" button. Otherwise I use Jaws key + f5 to open the list of form
fields and use the p key once to move to the "Publish" button.

I don't think this would be much different in older versions of Jaws, but it
works with Jaws 12 and 13, in both IE9 and FF14.

Léonie.
