Hi everyone.

I'm having a problem accessing the video controls in Youtube using my
screen reader.

I'm using Firefox 15, and I have installed the latest version of Flash
Player.

When trying to access the video controls, JAWS says:
"Flash start
flash end"

while NVDA says:
"embedded object unavailable"

When I use IE, both JAWS and NVDA can read the video controls e.g. Play,
mute. But I nonetheless prefer to use Firefox.

I'd appreciate any suggestions you could give.

Thank you very much.

Julius

Hi Julius,

YouTube allows you to prefer the HTML5 player over the Flash player. You
might give that a try, since the controls for the player will be HTML
controls rather than Flash.

To enable the HTML5 player as your default, make sure you are logged in to
your YouTube account and then go to http://www.youtube.com/html5 and Join
the HTML5 Trail. It may take logging out then logging back in or restarting
your browser for the HTML5 controls/video to load.
