I think it looks cleaner and nicer, but I¹m not sure how Jared is going to
feel about that carousel. ;-)

No ARIA landmarks on the home page, wish they would have used at least the 'main' landmark.

Yep the carousel is not accessible and looks really weird on iPhone, the images disappear and all that's left is a white rectangle rotating through the list of blue rectangles.

It is disappointing not to see some simple ARIA enhancements like Landmarks.

Not sure if they're trying to do something with visually hidden text but I can't get to read that text using VoiceOver. Code below:

<li class="active"> <!--h<php echo $params->get('item_heading')+ $levelup; >-->
<a href="/guidelines-and-standards/buildings-and-sites">
Buildings &amp; Sites</a>
<!--/h<php echo $params->get('item_heading')+ $levelup; >-->

<p>Standards issued under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) address access to buildings and sites nationwide in new construction and alterations. Similar standards apply to building and sites funded by the Federal government under Architectural Barriers Act (ABA).</p>
<div><img class="full" src="/images/slideshow/buildings-and-sites.jpg" alt="buildings-and-sites" width="900" height="600">
</div>
</li>

As a design critique, I would say it still conveys a dated .gov website look that does not scream "Accessibility is exciting!" except for that awesome carousel ;)

If you search for ‘1194.22’ on a search engine, the URL:
http://www.access-board.gov/sec508/guide/1194.22.htm brings you to a page
about “Crossing at Roundabouts” for Public Rights of way. There used to be
a comprehensive article about the different provisions and what they mean,
which was a decent quick find resource to go to or send people to. These
still exist, but now you have to figure out where they are. It would have
been much nicer if they created some redirects so their pages didn’t
completely disappear. Didn’t John Foliot talk about this at some point?

The way you navigate to it is really wonky! A search for ‘1194.22’ on the
Access Board web site came up with a “No results found” page! So in the
middle at the top I click Guidelines and Standards. Then halfway down in
the text onto Section 508 Standards. Now move to the right of the screen
and I choose Guide to the Section 508 Standards. This gives me rudimentary
list on a single page. Now I have to go all the way to the other side of
the page to find what I’m looking for… 1194.21-26 is there. No .31. No
.41.

And the links to the individual provisions are no longer on the page,
which means that if I need to find something specific, I have to browse
for it. Worse, there are no page styling separating the provisions (aside
from questions in italic).

I take it back. The home page looks cleaner, but the rest of the site
needs a lot of work!
