We are looking for an accessible event invitation service. I was
disappointed with the functionality of EventBrite when using JAWS and IE9.
Does anyone know if one of the other services like Evite something else
provides a better experience for screen reader users?

Has anyone investigated Wufoo?

Their site talks about making their forms more accessible to screen
readers, so they are at least trying. And might be receptive to
constructive input.

Having used it for basic work, I'd suspect that the authoring tools are
less accessible, but it's been a long time

If you're using Doodle, keep checking in to make sure it's working for everyone. I've been using it for a few years now, but with gaps of several months when I couldn't use it at all because buttons or checkboxes wouldn't respond to my JAWS screen reader.
I emailed back and forth with their team a few times, and I hope this helped them see accessibility as a priority.
