I received the message below from a college on our campus. Which web-based players do you prefer? Also, are there any that allow viewers to turn on-off video descriptions as well as captions?

Thanks for any ideas,
Rachel

Hello,

We are looking to migrate several videos to a web based service like YouTube, Vimeo, etc...

I wanted to check if there is preferred web based service that will support closed captioning and any other requirements for our students with special needs.

I know that Vimeo currently does not support closed captions but is currently working toward a solution.

Avoid Livestream, the player is not keyboard accessible. Youtube seems
strong, especially for its support for captioning and automated
transcription (though make sure to clean up any voice recognition
transcriptions).

Agreed. I have seen lots of voice recognition transcriptions on youtube
that don't make any sense.
