Subject: transcript for a comic strip
No previous message | Next message →

hello:
we want to put up a comic on our site and have found a way to add
accessible text to it. we were wondering if we should still add a link to
the transcript of what the text says to the page as well. we have been able
to make it so that if the comic panels are enlarged they still can be read.
so the screen reader user gets text as they move through the panels. my
feeling is we don't need the transcript but i would like a vote from here
thanks Lucy

I'd love to see some example of your current setup... I've
not seen comics per-panel done before.

So far I've always linked to a sort of transcript, so
curious how you did what you've got now.

hello:
ken what we did was use the invisible text elimant in drupal and copied
the transcript on the page this means it reads just as if you were reading
the transcript. the screen reader does not even notice the panals as we
made the alt tags empty does that make a difference? would you still want a
link to the separate transcript? we then made sure that the images for the
comic were not read out by adding empty alt tags to them. it reads as if
the screen reader is reading a play by play of the comic strip frame one
and so on lucy

Hi Lucy, as a screen reader user, I would be happy to access the text off the comic - don't see the need for the transcript.
I am really keen to know how you have accomplished this.
Sounds awesome!
Thanks,
Jo
