Subject: Chrome Longdesc extension

Without wanting to step into a Longdesc debate, I noticed from the Chromium
bug tracker [1] that the team have created an official extension for
longdesc:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/collection/accessibility

The note from 'dmazzoni' caught my attention:
"Note that although these are implemented as extensions, they're officially
supported by the Chrome team and we link to them from Settings now (under
Accessibility). The plan is to integrate them further in the future, but
still make them optional features rather than just checkboxes.

If you use longdesc, install this extension! We will be tracking extension
installs and increased use of longdesc in the open web to see if we want to
build this in by default or leave it optional."

So as an accessibility community, if we want to move the needle on longdesc
(or just help people using Chrome!), lets make sure people know these
extensions exist...
