Hi All,

I'm working with a client whose website uses some complex data tables which
will probably require the headers attribute to be used.

When I'm testing with JAWS I can use the Ctrl + Alt + Numpad 5 to get
orientation information about the cell that I'm currently interacting with.

My question is, is there a corresponding keystroke in NVDA? I've tried to
find any reference to NVDA table cell information on the web, but without
any success so far.

If anyone's got any thoughts I'd be most grateful.

Thank
s
Graham Armfield

In browse mode (ins + spacebar), navigate the table using Control + Alt +
left / right arrow keys. Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Devarshi

Also use control+alt+up and down arrow keys to navigate between rows.

.. in other words, you can navigate within tables but I do not think
NVDA has a keystroke for speaking all context info for the cell that
you are currently on.
Consider that NVDA and Jaws support colspan if scope-'colgroup' for
headers associated with more than one column, though there is no
support for the corresponding rowspan/scope="rowgroup" attribute.

Birkir, l
you are correct. NVDA does not have a cell information key or "tell me
everything about this cell key"

To my knowledge no screen reader has support for row span. I do not know why

I think it's because none of their customers are asking for this feature.

Same with reading super/sub scripts correctly, Unicode characters (especially the extended set beyond the standard 256 lower range characters), en-dashes, em-dashes, minus-signs, and a whole lot more.

The great thing about NVDA is that a feature could be requested or bugs could be reported by anyone and tracked. Both Jamie and Mick will have a conversation with you via the tracker about setting priority for the feature request and other concerns. Here is a link to the NVDA tracker.
