Hello Accessibility Listservs,

I'm wondering if anyone has a good current list of JavaScript frameworks/libraries that help produce accessible code?

I have received a few emails about:

1. Bootstrap Accessibility Plug-in:
http://paypal.github.io/bootstrap-accessibility-plugin/demo.html<;https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__paypal.github.io_bootstrap-2Daccessibility-2Dplugin_demo.html&d=BQMFAg&c=8hUWFZcy2Z-Za5rBPlktOQ&r=keX15CdaYpbmMxLUiIuWb1zw--hfGTSkYKaQo57QVlNMzHCyNwZPEliFFnFLDF0F&m=Gjk-GeXGwNVg0GLPbmy0g463357VyXXq5sJFSCVsWKs&sCpHL6Dun5TSTPe0u3SIkGDBbNQ_Xba_5MYEbpjMckw&e=>

2. CMS Assets JavaScript Library:
http://assets.cms.gov/<;https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__assets.cms.gov_&d=BQMFAg&c=8hUWFZcy2Z-Za5rBPlktOQ&r=keX15CdaYpbmMxLUiIuWb1zw--hfGTSkYKaQo57QVlNMzHCyNwZPEliFFnFLDF0F&m=Gjk-GeXGwNVg0GLPbmy0g463357VyXXq5sJFSCVsWKs&s=Oa7klaLkwX9lsMEEHeA-IKr_QgQ_-lJ5CtnJR3KO9N4&e=>

But I would like both feedback on these frameworks and other recommendations.

My second question is does anyone have recommendations for incorporating accessibility evaluation into unit testing?

I believe Tenon.io and Quail can be incorporated into unit testing, but I'm wondering if there are other options that people recommend as well.

Thankx,
Joe

I could be talking rot as I can't find the link, but I think I read
that all the recommendations from the plugin had been rolled into the
main bootstrap code and had been abandoned?
It's well behind the current version of bootstrap, and hasn't been
updated since 2nd September.

Also, with Bootstrap 4 just around the corner, personally I'd wait and
see what sort of baked-in accessibility that has. Just my 2p/c on that
one!

Not *all* recommendations (as some were/are a bit specific too specific
for the more general usage patterns allowed by Bootstrap), but I think a
large chunk of the low-hanging fruit has been patched directly in core.

Complex widgets like carousels etc still lag way behind. Any
help/hints/ideas would be appreciated though.

Hi,
There is also one available at
http://whatsock.com/tsg/
Which includes provably accessible interactive widget constructs that can be styled and customized however you wish.

I'm currently working with a visual designer to improve the look and feel of the widgets, however the constructs are stable and can be used anywhere. This project is more fully described at

Joe,

After I gave Assets from CMS a glowing review on my blog, my team worked to
implement it for a project. While I do not recall the reasons (it was over
a year ago), we all agreed that it was insufficient as a build tool and its
accessibility was not ideal.

We went back to Bootstrap and the accessibility plug-in.

If you want, I can ping the team again and see if they can recall the
issues, but they were mostly not accessibility related.

Hi Joe,

While it¹s more than just a Javascript framework, ZURB just released
Foundation 6 and is really touting it¹s accessibility features.

I switched from Bootstrap a couple of years ago and really like it.
