It's my understanding that some website automatic translation tools are doing a better job at translating content on a page however, are there any out there that produce accessible translation?

Assuming that translation means simply replacing text in one language with
text in another language, then it should be fine, since accessibility is
primarily in the markup. For instance

<button>French Text</button> to <button>German Text</button> or

<img alt="French Text" /> to <img alt="German Text"/>

The important thing is ensuring that there is perceivable text for all
meaningful and/or interactive elements, and that there are translations for
all these texts.

You'd also want to ensure that the page language is indicated correctly -
using the lang attribute. This helps screen readers voice the text with the
correct pronunciation.

So using Brian's example:

<html lang="fr"> needs to become <html lang="de">.

What about if I wanted to add a tool that automatically translates the page on my website - such as Google translate? Is there a tool that adds the language tag to the page text automatically?
