Hi,

I've recently encountered a situation in which VoiceOver is set to "Read
All" but when it gets to superscripts on the page it starts buzzing and
essentially gets stuck - no other key commands will work. Any ideas on
what could be causing this?

Sounds like a Voice-over bug.

Try increasing the speech rate. Maybe VoiceOver just needs a bit more
momentum to make it over that bump the superscript introduces in the text.

If it's not apparent, this is a joke. :-) It really sounds like an obscure
bug. Do you have a sample that others could use to try to replicate the
issue?

I have seen several other cases of this especially when VoiceOver is set to "Group" mode in the web panel of VoiceOver Utility. It seems to be the sound of VO indicating that it has changed interaction levels, but goes on for several seconds. Recently, it even occurs with "Reader" mode, and in the Apple News Application. I have not seen anybody complain about this issue in the Macintosh blindness malinger lists I am on though.
I wonder if AppleVis lists this as one of its current bugs.
BTW, is it just a single character SuperScript, or a group of words where you are seeing this?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Question, does this occur on the iPad or iPhone as well?

No, the IOS platforms have no sense of interacting with a group of items to view the underlying content. Sometimes one will find a IOS item that has subitems like links that are not reachable because VoiceOver clusters the links or buttons with the surrounding content. I certainly have seen this occur in the Starbucks IOS application.
