Greetings!

We use MS Office 2016 at our organization and I am trying to seeing if there's an accessible solution to the below scenario.

Our budget department makes a series of agency budget documents.

These Word documents contained linked Excel tables (because the data changes quite frequently). But when you link an excel table, it treats it as an object, losing all table structure.

She then converts to PDF to post on the Website. The tables themselves are not readable by screen readers.

Is there an accessible solution to this situation while keeping the tables linked inside the Word documents?

Thanks!

Hi Lainie,

it depends on how you link the Excel tables.
The trick is to link them by copy (in Excel) and paste (in Word) and then selecting the option "linked to Excel".
In this way it is possible to keep the table structure.

Best wishes
Markus
