I'm certain that all of my non-techie friends have no idea how. I didn't
even know about the shift key method until someone mentioned it today. I use
Safari, and I just right click on a link and select "open link in new tab"
when I want to do so.
But once again, I expect pdfs to open in a new window, so I don't bother
doing it with those links.
