The justice department has stated that the ADA applies to web sites, however the rules surrounding how it applies have not been written. What was requested over the summer and fall were public comments to gather information that will be used in rule making. The comment period ended in January. Next we can expect a draft of the rules to be proposed, followed by another public comment period. We probably won't have final rules for a quite a while. For example the comment period for the refresh to the section 508 rules ended last June (if I remember correctly), and the final rules are still awaiting approval.

Aren't they still trying to see whether they would use Section 508 or WCAG?
I saw something from last summer on proposals that they wanted on this
question...

Are they still mulling over that issue?

Cheers
