Guide to Creating Accessible Materials

Hi All,

Building off of NCDAE's Cheatsheets (http://www.ncdae.org), our office created a resource guide to assist our faculty and staff with creating accessible electronic materials, ATI Guide to Creating Accessible Electronic Materials<http://ati.gmu.edu/upload/PDF-Guide_Final_upd030314.pdf>;. We wanted to share it with those who may also need a "just-in-time" resource to support their faculty and/or staff members with the creation of accessible e-learning content.

It consists of a series of one or two-page cheatsheets that provide step-by-step procedures for incorporating accessibility into commonly used software applications. It is a bit intimidating at 58 pages, but individuals can choose to review it in its entirety or pick and choose the cheatsheets that are most applicable to their current needs. As face-time with our faculty becomes tighter and tighter, we think this will work well for our particular needs.

While we have tailored this guide specifically to our needs, it would be great if people would take this, start adding information that is specific to their own higher education institution, and share it with the list.

For example, we use Blackboard/Blackboard Collaborate/Kaltura here at George Mason, but information on Canvas, Moodle, Adobe Connect, Echo360, and other types of educational technologies would be beneficial for a number of individuals on this list. We are working on adding accessibility information for additional tools that are gaining ground on our campus (e.g., Respondus, WordPress, Survey Monkey and Doodle).

As the technology changes, we will continue to work on updating it. If you have suggestions for improving it or would like to add to it, please email me directly. If you prefer to take it and make it your own, feel

free.

Hope this resource helps!
