Considering the fact that most of the messages I've seen on this list from
commercial entities are in regards to free tools and software, I'm all for
them letting us know. HiSoftware is a commercial outfit, granted, but
offering free tools to the community, imho, increases their value in my
mind as a commercial outfit. I think some larger companies could learn
from this strategy.
If you don't like HiSoftware "hawking" themselves, just remind yourself
that it could be worse, and they could be "hawking" their commercial
tools.
This is the way that I like businesses to work. Give people the desire to
check them out by offering value for little to no cost. Then people will
see the benefits for themselves. Personally, I'm happy when new tools are
made available that don't cost me anything, especially considering how
tight budgets are these days.
So, Watchfire, HiSoftware, LIFT, and the multitudes of others, thanks for
offering the freebies here.
As usual, just my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.

Subject: sales & spam
I've now seen 4 messages from hisoftware on this list. You're not
selling anything, but I do get spammed every week by some alias called
"D. Little" hawking hisoftware and I don't care for it.
The thing about sales and spam mails is that they just jump in with
their one-track focus irrespective of and oblivious to ongoing dialogue.
It actually has the effect of making me vow never to use anything
offered by this outfit.
