Thanks for responding. Yes, "coachmarks" are how they're referred to in some situations.

The page is visually darkened and a tooltippy thing (often with focusables inside such as Next and Previous or Got It buttons) visibly pointing to a non-darkened part of the page which the user should be focussing on and the tooltip explains the things the user can do?
Not that I know of any off-the-shelf versions of the above but to clarify the question.
