I think advertising sometimes gets into black magic. Some advertising is
intentionally deceptive to hook you in. Some do it respectfully and others
do it disingenuously. Some want to be up front that they're trying to win
your business and others try to sneak in. From a consumer perspective, I
would prefer to hear that an image is an ad, but if you asked a sales
person for their opinion, they might have the opposite approach.
When you do a google search on your favorite topic, the top results have
"Ad" next to them so you know they're sponsored ads. I think that's
honest. I can choose for myself if I want to select that or skip them and
go to the real search results.
