I am actually working on something like this for my work right now (we
manage a large site with *thousands* of document attachments), and one
issue that we run into is that if you envision something like the WebAIM
Million where you get automated insights on lots of documents, you can only
do them in "bulk" on PDFs. Otherwise, you pretty much have to download
every single Microsoft Word document and run the accessibility checker
yourself, then record the results. And insert all the caveats here about
what an automated tool can and can't tell you, but I agree it would be good
data to have, like the WebAIM million is useful for us. It might also
inform how we educate and message about what the best formats for
information are, etc.
