PhotoStack (.org) is 85% of the way there. I had yet another
discussion (this time f2f) with Noel D. Jackson, the young
whippersnapper who develops it, about the importance of alt texts
just last week.
Back in the day I would have recommended Flickr as a stopgap measure.
But with its new gamma release (sic), though I still use it I am not
undisillusioned.
