I registered for the virtual conference which looks very good. Unfortunately there were two accessibility problems with the registration process. I used JAWS 13.

Near the end where you choose check or credit card, with radio buttons it didn't properly show when one was selected.

Secondly there is a "finish" link and when I tabbed to it, and hit enter, nothing happened. A sighted person had to trigger it with a mouse.

This is very disappointing for an accessibility conference.

Here is to hoping access to the conference itself is smoother. I intend
to sign up for this as well.

Hi guys
Is it just me (mind like a ceive, 3 kids makes one awfully tired
sometimes, not to mention health issues), or does the price of a
single admission ticket to the virtual conference not readily display
anywhere. The registration page shows discount codes but no price
info, the payment page asks for a lot of personal and professional
info, does not show the prices in the first 2 steps. If someone has
come across the cost of an individual ticket, could you please post
it, here or send me an email?
For next conference, please make the prices more readily obvious on
the registration page. I don't feel like doing a lot of paperwork just
to find out the price, then turn around and try my best to look cute
so my employer will consider reimbursing me for it. For now the
lineuplooks great, and I hope I can arrange to attend virtually. :)
Thanks everyone.

Birkir, there are multiple price options, according to the registration
page (http://accessinghigherground.org/virtualAHG2012.html):

You can do one day (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday) of Track A or Track B
for $100.
You can do the whole preconference (Monday and Tuesday) for $150.
You can do all three days of Track A for $125.
You can do all three days of Track B for $125.
You can do all three days of both Track A & Track B for $220.
You can do all three days of both Track A & Track B plus the pre
conference for $325.

I hope I got all that right. Clear as mud, right? But the sessions and the
preconference all sound pretty good.

Best to you,
Jan Heck

David, Len, Birkir, et al,

Thank you for the feedback - getting this type of feedback on accessibility
and usability is crucial for knowing about and fixing issues. As an
accessibility conference, we do take accessibility seriously. That's the
main reason we chose Cvent as our registration system because it was the
most accessible of the products we looked at, much more so than services
such as regonline who didn't know what 508 meant when I spoke to them.

I've taken a look at the problem page and when I test it with JAWS and I.E.
(ver. 9.), the problems that David outlines in his email do occur. Looking
at the code, which is somewhat complex and cumbersome because it is
generated by Cvent, I don't see the problem and when running that portion
of the code through achecker I don't get an error. I do get a potential
problem of "visual lists may not be properly marked." However, it does
appear that the proper tags: <label>, <ul>, <li> are included and seem to
be properly positioned, nested and opened and closed.

When I access the page with either JAWS and Firefox or Window-Eyes and I.E.
I do NOT run into this problem. I've posted the code at
http://accessinghigherground.org/paymentscreen.html, for anyone who wants
to look it over and determine the problem. I know that there sometimes can
be a syntax error in code that some browsers are able to accommodate but
others cannot. Perhaps this is the issue.

Regarding the pricing. The pricing - yes, there are many options - can be
found, as indicated on my original email, at
http://accessinghigherground.org/virtualAHG2012.html#agenda on the
conference site. I will try to make the pricing options more prominent on
my future email blurbs. I look forward to your continued constructive
feedback and to your attendance at the virtual conference.

Regards,
Howard Kramer

Howard,

Thank you for your follow up. I will take a closer look when I am home. It is always when we in this field encounter similar challenges to those we assist.

Has some one tested the apps that will be connecting us during the conference? I know in theory all should behave, but on the surface, this problem was not apparent. I would hate to discover a hidden problem at show time. Thanks much!

Hi Len,

Yes, we will be testing the applications again. We used the same
applications - Adobe Connect - last year without any reported problems
regarding accessibility or connectivity. But we will be testing the
interface again, particularly for keyboard and screeenreader accessibility.

Regards,
Howard

If you are using IE 9 we have noticed a bug in reporting changing states and particularly dynamically changing content in forms. Our experimentation shows that this is a problem with Ie 9 and not the coding of the forms or the AT. I have not tested the higher ground registration but we are having serious problems with several applications due to this bug in IE.
