WebAIM - Web Accessibility In Mind

Low Vision Simulation

Web developers often have difficulty understanding the problems users with visual disabilities face when accessing web pages that are not designed with their needs in mind. This simulation provides an opportunity for users to experience a web page using simulated visual disabilities. While it certainly does not simulate low vision itself, it can be used to help understand how visual disabilities can impact web content and how web content can better designed.

This is a sample view of the program as it simulates what a person with macular degeneration could experience.

This simulation requires the Shockwave plug-in. Although Shockwave is generally not considered very accessible, WebAIM has added keyboard shortcuts to ensure that the widest range of users possible can use the simulation.
