Regarding the pop-up itself, I would think that folks would have learned that a linked email address will open up another window- can't say our web access committee ever considered alerting for mailto.

We do try, however, to have our designers NOT assume that folks will be using an integrated mail program. I recently clicked a mailto link in the library AT room when testing out the new Dragon, and it launched Outlook express and would have sent out an email using someone else's account. It would not let me switch to my Web Outlook program.

Our Web Access committee encourages that the text for you mailto contain the complete address for the user to send mail to. That way they can copy it into their Hotmail or whatever type of account they use.

Agreed, however, it *DOES* pop up a new window... It is one of the vagaries
of the W3C's Guidelines
