One question:
In the paragraph just before the first subhead "Examples", you wrote...

"This logic leaves much to be desired. It results in many data tables being
incorrectly treated as data tables, even if those data tables have
appropriate header or other accessibility markup. Likewise, layout tables
may be identified as data tables."

Did you mean to say "It results in many data tables being incorrectly
treated as LAYOUT tables?"
