I agree that it happens alot, and I would like to avoid this too.

I am running Outlook 2000 - I've just looked at out of office rules and
there does not appear to be an option to exclude auto responses for certain
conditions. There is a section for other options that allow custom messages
for certain people.

I'm not sure how best to deal with this one - if anyone else is using
Outlook 2000 and has a rle set up which works properly, please post to this
list what conditions you applied.

Thanks

Why is it that this list has a much higher percentage of people who have
ill-configured auto-responders that reply with their "Out of Office"?

This happens only rarely on any other list, but just about any time I post
to WebAIM, I get at least two of them from someone....

a) Your autoresponder should not respond to a mailing list ... or any other
"daemon" generated message (you'd hate it, and your administrator would hate
it even more, if your auto-responder and someone else's auto-responder
getting into a mail-loop war....Which brings me to my second point...

b) Your autoresponder should not respond to the same address more than once
(especially on the same day)
