Captioning question

Hello List!

Long time lurker...

A captioning question that I didn't have the answer to and I hope someone has advice for.

When creating videos, labels are sometimes embedded within videos to provide onscreen information of interviewees or locations. When implementing captions, they can cover these descriptions.

Are there best practices for onscreen description placement? Or would it be best practice to inform users that they control the caption placement on youtube videos?
