Personally I thought you broke it down a bit too much. What I would
recommend is ask yourself, do you want this to be a resource for people who
picked up HTML a week (or so ago), or for somebody who just needs some
help. If it is to help somebody with very little knowledge, I would chop
your article down in three parts, at least; roughly 1-4, 5-8, and 9-12. If
the article is meant to be for the latter group, editing needs to be done,
for example, your steps 1-3 or 4, could be collapsed into one step. I
still think it should be broken down into 2 or 3 parts.
You provided a detailed list, but did not give any real indication where
the user is. An experienced user may be able to figure out where they are
depending on what a paragraph is saying, but I don't recommend the let them
figure it out approach.
I like how you mentioned applicable guidelines, however they are just
thrown in with little discussion on why you put a link there. It appears
that some, I didn't check them all, of the links to the guidelines act as
step beginning or ending markers, with no indication of their purpose (see
above).
