It's a nice idea but screen reading software (JAWS) does not pick up content added through before and after. I just confirmed running JFW 16 on FF latest release and IE 9 (don't ask). I will repeat the tests with NVDA, Window Eyes, and VoiceOver later but I don't hold out much hope. I tested with and without the media designation.
