You'd want to make sure the long description is available to users with low vision and cognitive disabilities.

I've been wondering about whether a hidden div following a complex image is better than a longdesc. Since longdesc involves a pop-up or new tab, I'd
think that the hidden div would be preferable. Can I get your opinions on
this?
