Selecting multiple non-contiguous select box options by keyboard in Chrome

Unless I am missing something, there is no native way for keyboard-only
users to select multiple non-contiguous options in a select box in Chrome.
This appears to be an issue first reported in 2011, with no movement
towards a resolution. If anyone knows of a way to do this, short of some
custom-coded JavaScript thing, please let me know. Otherwise, I would
encourage folks to post your support for getting this fixed here:
