Hi everyone,

The next running of our D201 course at the HTML Writers
Guild/International
Webmasters Association (via eClasses.org) will begin on 26 May 2003.
The
course is $80 for the full seven weeks if you are a full member of the
HWG/IWA,
and $180 if you are not. (Membership dues for a year are $49, so it's
a no-
brainers to join up.)

This is the 21st running of our course (since summer 1998), and we make
regular updates to the course material and organization in order to
keep up
with the evolving nature of Web accessibility. New changes in this
course
include:

1. We will now be using the book "Constructing Accessible Web Sites"
(Jim
Thatcher et al) as our textbook. (If you have already signed up and
bought the old textbook, we will be giving alternate readings from
that
book as well, although CAWS is recommended.)

2. One of the lessons has been updated and replaced with a look to the
future; the new week is:

Week 7: The Future of Web Accessibility
As the Web continues to evolve and grow into the 21st
Century's signature communications medium, so also will
the techniques and technologies used to ensure accessibility.
The final week of this course concludes with an examination
of emerging technologies which can help insure full
accessibility in the future, from CC/PP to CMS, from
iPots to XML.

3. Class assignments receive a point grade; we've found this helps
with class participation as well as providing direct feedback on
completion. 70% is necessary to achieve a passing grade in the
course.

Registration officially closes on 2 June 2003, but may close earlier, as
there are only 100 "virtual seats" available in the class. Signing up
early
ensures your spot in the class, and to avoid falling behind, you want to
be sure to have enrollment and textbook ready to go by 26 May.

For more details, including a link to register in the class (join IWA if
you have not already!), see the D201 homepage with FAQs:

(This announcement may be forwarded to any appropriate mailing lists or
posted on any applicable Web site as long as the content is kept intact,
including this notice. Thanks!)
