Please don't make alt text longer than that! In my view, if there is that much detail needed in the directions, it probably should also be available on screen. Not only, the instructions be generally beneficial, but the some screen readers can not allow one to carefully parse through such a set of instructions phrase by phrase.

While I am on a bandwagon, I have to say: I hate those sites where there is text saying Press the large green button to connect and then there is a graphical link (not a button ) that says connect.
