Jim,
She is referring to the Microsoft styling that is embedded in HTML when Word converts the file. Microsoft adds its own markup that is based on XML garbage.
After you save the file, if you open it in notepad, you will see what I am talking about. It is pretty nasty. Modifying it is a royal pain. You are best redoing your own stylesheet.

Hi Lisa,
I don't have personal experience with what you just said, but I am about to give a tool I have here a try to see what happens. Can you give me an idea how complex one of your documents is, so I can try to produce a similar test here? If
Thanks.
Jim

Subject: [WebAIM] Batch HTML maker
Hi Everyone,
I have a lot of Word and PDF documents that I want to make into HTML files, in as automated a way as possible (I am okay doing it one by one though if needed). However, I want the HTML to be clean and not full of code bits that shouldn't be there.
I know Word has the Save As HTML but the code is gross and bloated.
Anyone using a system that produces HTML with good clean code?
Cheers
Lisa
