If you haven't already, check out Greg Krause's Incredible Accessible Modal
Window. I've been following development on and off. At one point he was
relying on aria-hidden to remove everything behind the modal from the tab
order. I'm not sure if there's a more active trapping solution in the
latest version (3) http://gdkraus.github.io/accessible-modal-dialog/
