Greetings, WebAIM (and others I'm bcc-ing):
The article below my name, about how to create social media sharing
links, may be perceived to be slightly off-topic, since it doesn't focus
on accessibility specifically. It was posted in December of 2016, the
comments may be helpful, and the comments are now closed.
Thanks to Dennis Lembree for sharing the piece via Twitter.
I thought I'd post the article here since we've discussed broken sharing
widgets (accessibility-wise) many's the time on this list, and I sure
see them every day. Perhaps you/those with whom you work may wish to
build/improve your own.
Generally, the links (typically links, not buttons) that I see don't
distinguish which platform I'll be "sharing to" when I am reading the
share links with my screen reader, but there certainly are likely to be
other issues to be found.
There's even something for "React" fans in the comments.
So, . . . have you tested your sharing widgets for accessibility lately?
If you prefer to advocate to get third-party ones fixed, that'd be
great, too.
Best,
Jennifer
