I'm not sure I fully understand what we're dealing with here. There is a search field and there is a dialog containing a search field. Is that the same field or are there two fields? That is, does the dialog somehow appear as a wrapper around the search field, or does it appear as an overlay containing a second search field? And if it's an overlay and there are now two search fields, which of the two has focus?

Hai all,

I'm writing to seek clarification regarding the compliance of our webpage's
search field with the 3.2.1 On Focus Criteria of the Web Content
Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Specifically, the search field behaves as follows:
• When the user hovers over or focuses on the field, a modal dialog opens.
• Within the dialog, there are tabs, radio buttons, and a search field.
• Keyboard focus is initially within the search field, both before and
after the dialog opens.
I'm unsure if this behavior aligns with the 3.2.1 On Focus Criteria,
If this behavior is indeed a violation of the criteria, I'm wondering if
adding an aria-description attribute to the search field could provide a
pre-indication of the dialog's opening and keyboard focus behavior.
I would greatly appreciate your insights on this matter and any guidance
you can provide.
Thank you for your time and attention.

Regards,
Sumit.
