We typically avoid multiple H1's on the page for both accessibility and SEO reasons.

Having one H1 identifies the primary topic/subject of the page, making it easier for search engines to index. And, for screen reader users, it clearly defines the main topic by using H1. I suppose it's not a WCAG hard and fast rule, just a best practice we've been using based on our research.
