I stumbled across the "Fangs Screen Reader Emulator" for Firefox that
you may be interested in as well:

Please note that it is under development and the latest version can be
found on SourceForge at the following URL:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fangs This may enable your students to
experience 'what it is like' and perhaps even participate in creating a
better tool for everyone.
