Welcome to the new and improved WebAIM discussion forum. We have upgraded our list software to provide a better medium for web accessibility discussions. For the most part, the list functionality is unchanged. You can subscribe, unsubscribe, or manage your subscription at http://webaim.org/discussion/

Here's a few IMPORTANT items of business:
- Please keep discussions on the list relevant to web technologies and accessibility.
- The list is open to anyone and we encourage all members to be supportive of those who have basic accessibility questions. Though the list has predominantly been a medium for fairly advanced technical discussion, we want beginners to accessibility to feel welcome to post.
- The WebAIM discussion list is a private list and WebAIM reserves the right to moderate, block, or ban any messages or subscribers.
- Please post messages in plain-text format. This ensures the highest level of accessibility for all list subscribers. The new list software handles HTML messages much better than the previous software, but many clients do not yet handle HTML e-mails correctly. You now have the option to receive such messages as plain text or as HTML (MIME) encoded. The default is MIME. You can change this in your subscription preferences at http://webaim.org/discussion
- We have had problems in the past with autoresponders, vacation messages, and other automated messages making it to the list. While the new software better filters out such messages, it cannot catch all of them. PLEASE do not set your vacation messages to post to the list. Anyone who violates this rule will be banned from the list on just the first occurance. DO NOT SEND AUTORESPONDERS TO THE LIST! If you are going to be away for a while, you can suspend delivery of messages in your subscription preferences.
- Do not request a return receipt for messages sent to the list.
- Please trim messages that you are responding to so that only the relevant information is quoted. This is especially helpful to DIGEST subscribers.
- DIGEST subscribers should change the SUBJECT line of their responses to reflect the content of the message to which they are responding.
- The Web-based archives are not updating at this moment. I will be working on getting them up and running soon.
- For the next few days, the forum will be moderated to ensure that everything is working correctly. As such, any messages you post to the list will not be distributed until I verify them. This may take anywhere from a minute to several hours. Please be patient and remember that this is only in place temporarily.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please send them to me off-list. We encourage you to use the list and provide feedback.
