RE: Accessible Web Conferences in U.S.?

Hello Christopher,

I am disappointed at the lack of conferences/information available
within the US on Web accessibility, as well.

I don't know of any specific conferences solely on the topic of Web
accessibility. However, the University of Washington has a federally
funded program (AccessIT) that works solely with accessible Information
Technology, including Web accessibility. It is primarily within the
realm of education, but there is some good information on their Web
site. They also present at national conferences throughout the year, and
I know they've worked with Microsoft on accessibility issues. You may
find a relevant conference on their site and/or some useful information
at http://www.washington.edu/accessit/

Another place you might consider looking at is EASI (Equal Access to
Software and Information) http://www.rit.edu/~easi/index.htm. They have
online classes and events all about accessible IT. I have not personally
attended any of them, so I do not know what they are like or what the
quality is. They do mention the conference in Colorado this November on
their site, as well.

Hope you find something useful!

Stephanie Rosso

Subject: [WebAIM] Accessible Web Conferences in U.S.?

Hello, all. Is anyone aware of any conferences in the United States
focused on accessible Web design or information technology? I know
there are some good ones overseas in Europe, Australia, and Japan, but
have found few in the U.S. I know that CSUN and ATIA often have some
information on these topics, but I was wondering if there were any
solely devoted to making accessible Web sites.

A colleague of mine did find the 8th Annual Accessing Higher Ground:
Accessible Media, Web and Technology Conference in Colorado this
November. It is described as being for education, businesses, and Web &
media designers. http://www.colorado.edu/ATconference/
<http://www.colorado.edu/ATconference/>; Just wondering if anything
else like it is out there. Thanks!
