This is exactly what started all this - if someone says something is
better, it is worth finding out why, for the education of the list as a
whole. Maybe there is a good reason. In the case of <spacer>, I too am
skeptical of the value, but I know that the person suggesting it works
on pages that get more views than most of the rest of ours combined and
there may be reasons that are unfamiliar to some.
