Hello,

I'd appreciate folks assistance on the following items relative to WCAG
2.0 checkpoint 1.2.5 (level AA) in where audio descriptions must be
provided for video content in situations where the audio track doesn't
convey this.

1. resources on the process of developing/producing audio descriptions
2. examples of sites that have implemented audio description
I would also value any first-hand experience from folks who have
implemented audio description.

Jennison,

VSA Arts of Texas is a good starting point for Audio Description Resources. They do live audio description for live performances and movies here in Austin and provide training and assistance for people creating training videos and other multimedia that would benefit from audio description. They have also taught courses on audio description at Knowbility's AccessU and Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) events. The Audio Description Page<http://www.vsatx.org/audio.html>; on their site provides more information including contact points. <http://www.vsatx.org/audio.html>;

I don't know how much help this could be, but there was a guy from I think
the University of Toronto who was developing an audio description method
where you could write the description, and then an electronic voice read it.
I don't understand the technical details of it, but if you could find him,
I'm sure he does. His name is Charles Silverman.

"2. examples of sites that have implemented audio description"

Not sure if it's what you're after, but this page has an audio described example:

Good morning,

Take a look at http://capscribe.ca/ Charles Silverman is involved with this organization and is probably one of the best to contact for information on audio description, including automated audio description as mentioned by Carin.
